In the days leading up to FOCUS 13, more than 700 McAfee SecurityAlliance & Security Innovation Alliance partners met in the Venetian Congress Center to discuss the future of security technology. During this year’s Partner Summit, attendees enjoyed a day of discussion with McAfee executives on the theme of “Better Connected” and how technology leads to positive change.
McAfee Partner Summit
Following a day of golf in sunny Las Vegas and a night of mingling at TAO Beach, SecurityAlliance Partners joined together for a talk on leadership, enablement and working together to create disruptive growth in the marketplace. Events opened with a keynote from Gavin Struthers, SVP, Worldwide Operations, and EVP of Global Sales, Steve Redman, and included a CIO panel discussion on defining security solutions (rather than the problems), a performance from the Spazmatics, and an inspirational speech from Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind man to ascend Mount Everest.
SIA DevCon & Awards Ceremony
While McAfee SecurityAlliance partners discussed being “Better Connected”, Security Innovation Alliance partners attended the 6th annual SIA Developers Conference (DevCon) and Awards Ceremony. The DevCon offered an opportunity for McAfee SIA partners to meet McAfee technology experts and further align their solution integrations.
It was also the forum for presenting the McAfee SIA Partner of the Year Awards. The deserving winners for 2013 are:
- Most Valuable Partner of the Year – ForeScout
- Most Valuable Partner of the year finalist – Autonomic Software
- Most Valuable Partner of the year finalist – Avecto
- Most Innovative Partner of the Year – Avecto
- Rookie of the Year – Core Security
Each of the above companies has demonstrated an excellent level of dedication to their work, and we continue to be amazed by the growing talent of the SIA community. We’re also proud to welcome six new partners to the McAfee Security Innovation Alliance.
SIA at FOCUS 13
In addition to DevCon & the Awards ceremony, SIA also hosted a track session at FOCUS 13. The SIA Partner panel took a comprehensive look at “A week in the life of a Security Manager,” providing a walk through of an integrated approach to defending against security scenarios. The panel included 4 Security Innovation Alliance Partners and McAfee Vice President SIA, Ed Barry. Ward Holloway of FireMon, Idan Shoham of Hitachi ID Systems, Tanuj Gulati of Securonix, and Paul Reid of Titus Inc. joined Barry to discuss the scenario of an “Insider Threat.” The panel discussed how security managers could provide “rock-solid security while thwarting insider threats,” walking attendees through the various security risk management considerations needed to protect a new hire’s data – and what to be prepared for in case that new hire goes rogue.
As we’ve wrapped up another SecurityAlliance Partner Summit & SIA DevCon, we’d like to thank all of our partners for joining us and engaging on social media along the way!
