Farewell Blog From Phyllis Schneck

Friends and colleagues:

As I transition from McAfee’s Public Sector CTO to my new role as Deputy Under Secretary, Cyber Security, National Protection and Programs Directorate at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, please accept my gratitude for your support, humor and all that I have learned from you. My new position will be a very humbling and exciting challenge, and one whose success will build on the work of those in government currently and before me, and the work of the private sector in building relationships between public and private that transcend competition in the name of making our electronic systems more resilient. This work that we all do builds technical innovation, better global policy and best of all, lifetime friendships.

Sincere thanks to the teams and colleagues at McAfee and Intel, and especially to Mike Fey for his amazing leadership as our Worldwide CTO, building a team that loves to innovate, and building the respect of all around us so that technology can be realized to make things safer. The friendships I have made at McAfee are far too many to enumerate in a brief note, but I cherish the people with whom I have had the opportunity to work and have such fun. It is you who have prepared me for this next step.

The decision to leave McAfee was not easy, but the decision to accept the role at DHS was simple, because I am excited to serve our country and the great team at DHS. Please do continue to support DHS and greater government efforts to work together, even though it can be very challenging at times. McAfee has been an amazing home and growing environment for me, and I thank all of you, personally and professionally, for what you do every day.

Sincere thanks and warmest regards,
