It’s October and that means it’s time to get ready for our 9th annual FOCUS security conference. We’re just a few short weeks away from having security experts from all over the world flooding The Aria in Las Vegas, Nevada, to talk shop and learn about the latest innovations in cyber defense.
FOCUS 16 runs from Tuesday, Nov. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 3 and features 90+ sessions over the course of the conference. Not into sessions? No worries. The Expo Hall will also host a series of Turbo Talks, allowing you to get up to speed on your own time while you peruse the booths.
So how do you get to FOCUS 16? Easy. You can build out your case for attendance or, if you’re already approved to go, build out your schedule on the FOCUS 16 website. Just make sure you register on our website right here. Once you’re set up, just download our FOCUS 16 Mobile App for access to session details no matter where you are. Need a few more reasons to register? Well, here are our top five reasons for attending FOCUS 16:
Ashton Kutcher & Ted Koppel
First of all, there’s a great lineup of speakers at this year’s conference. Prolific actor and investor Ashton Kutcher will be our first day keynote speaker this year. Ashton Kutcher has unique insight into how a company’s cybersecurity stance can affect its future growth and innovation. A critical issue for small companies as they struggle to grow, compete and remain secure. Kutcher also has first-hand experience of the consequences of social media attacks after his Twitter profile was compromised in 2011. It’ll be a keynote to remember.
Wrapping up the day two keynote with Ted Koppel – an eye-witness to history with over 50 years of experience as a professional journalist. Who else can say they’ve covered MLK’s Selma march, and interviewed Nelson Mandela following his 26-year prison sentence? Koppel’s latest book, “Lights Out,” takes an in-depth look at the potential ways the United States could fall victim to, and how it can prepare for, cyber-catastrophes as the world become more connected. Expect an illuminating keynote.
Amazing Deep Dives
How do you secure your hybrid cloud data center? Is your medical data for sale? How can applied intelligence help you to unmask attackers? This year’s deep dive sessions are our best and broadest yet, helping you to get into the thick of it in Vegas so you don’t have to get into the thick of it at the office.
Learn how to mitigate ransomware, squeeze the most out of SIEM and how your organization can secure its industrial IoT efforts. Check out the sessions here.
Table Top Exercises for the Five Most Common Incidents
Learning is great. Learning while getting hands-on is even better. So join us on Nov. 1 from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Room 7-Pinyon 3 as we tackle the top five most common incidents you’ll see in a fun and interactive way! Table Top Exercises asks the audience to simulate five scenarios (based on real-life incidents) throughout the session. You’ll simulate incidents as they progress from evidence to press discovery to system failures and submit your proposed responses. At the end of each incident, a group of Foundstone Specialists will review your preferred actions and provide feedback. It’s a great, interactive way to make sure your cyberdefense skills are where they need to be. Check out further session details here, and select the session through our “My Schedule” tool here.
Booths, solutions and swag. What would a conference be without a Sponsor Expo? This year’s Sponsor Expo will feature another impressive lineup of Intel Security partners, allowing you to talk shop with some the world’s leading security companies and agencies in one location! Make sure to make time for The Innovation Fair, too! There you can take a sneak-peek at the latest innovations in the cybersecurity field.
And of course, don’t forget to stop by the Intel Security Booth where you can take a first-hand look at our growing stable of cybersecurity tools!
The Goo Goo Dolls
This year we have a special treat for our Thursday Evening Special Event: The Goo Goo Dolls! That’s right: the award-winning rock band will bring FOCUS 16 to a rockin’ end Thursday evening at The Aria. And be sure to come hungry and thirsty, because this year’s event will feature an open bar, delicious hors d’oeuvres and an amazing show.
We’re excited to see you at this year’s FOCUS 16 conference. But if you can’t make it, don’t worry. We’ll be sharing live updates over a variety of social media platforms. Just look out for the #FOCUS16 hashtag on Twitter, and follow our FOCUS Showcase LinkedIn page. And feel free to use #FOCUS16 if you’re attending (or watching) the conference.
